NORTH VANCOUVER – Thanks to a local ticket sales incentive, 28 players from the North Shore Girls Soccer Association will take part in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, the largest women’s soccer competition in the world.
The association will send 28 players between the ages of 15-17 to help out on the Vancouver Venue Ball Crew for all nine FIFA Women’s World Cup™ matches at BC Place Stadium. Ball Crew members play a critical role in maintaining the flow of the game. They will provide support for players and match officials, and will be responsible for ensuring one ball is kept in play for as long as possible during the course of a match.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ is the first large-scale sporting event hosted in Canada from coast to coast. 24 nations will compete in 52 matches across five time zones. The competition kicks off on June 6, 2015, with games taking place in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton. The final match will take place at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver on July 5.
