Sport organizations throughout British Columbia will share $145,247 in the latest round of program funding from Hosting BC. The entire list, made up of 37 sporting events taking place in 20 communities, will provide grants ranging between $800 and $15,000.
These grants will support the setup and operation of international, national, provincial and club championships, tournaments and tour stops for sports such as racquetball, wrestling, swimming, fastball, equestrian, canoe/kayak, and taekwondo.
Since 2004, the provincial government – through Hosting BC – has invested more than $5.3 million in community-based sporting events throughout the province.
Funding for these events is provided by the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development and administered by viaSport, the Government of British Columbia’s lead agency for the development and promotion of sport and physical activity in the province.
These investments in sport hosting opportunities assist communities and organizations in their efforts to make this province the destination of choice for sport and cultural events.
