NORTH VANCOUVER – The provincial government is redirecting more than $949,000 in administrative savings back to the North and West Vancouver school districts to help them deal with local cost pressures and provide front-line services for students.
North Vancouver’s SD 44 will receive $665,252, while West Vancouver’s SD 45 will receive $284,472. The districts can use this funding as they see fit – such as on-going classroom programs, hiring new teachers or bus transportation.
Districts made real efforts to reduce spending on their administration costs, and those efforts have made it possible to redirect those resources into classrooms and services for students. The amount of money being left with districts is equal to the Year 2 of Administrative savings districts were asked to find.
School districts, including SD 44 and 45, have been informed that they will not have to pay their share of $25 million worth of provincial charges this year, and instead can redirect that money into front-line services for students.
